Heel Pain

Home Chiropractic Care Heel Pain

Heel pain is a very common condition that we see and treat at the clinic. The most common cause of heel pain is plantar fasciitis. It involves pain and inflammation of a thick band of tissue, called the plantar fascia, that runs across the bottom of your foot and connects your heel bone to your toes.
Plantar fasciitis presents with sharp stabbing heel pain. It is commonly very painful first thing in the morning and has a tendency to loosen up a little with movement. It is more common in runners, people who are overweight, and those with flat feet.

At Bow River Chiropractic Clinic Dr. Janzen uses a variety of different techniques to treat this condition. If the person has flat feet a common recommendation is custom foot orthotics to help correct faulty foot biomechanics. We also use laser therapy to help decrease the inflammation and give the area a little energy boost to speed up the healing process.
As the pain subsides we give specific stretches and exercises to help release some of the tight muscles that contribute to the condition. Plantar fasciitis generally responds well to treatment and people are back doing their everyday activities in no time .
